Islamic University, Najaf
Within the framework of the student activities programme approved by the Student Activities Department at the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, four sports delegations from the Islamic University took part in the Quadripartite University Sports Tournament, hosted by Ashur University and Gilgamesh University in Baghdad from 30 November 2025 to 2026. The tournament witnessed the participation of more than 50 public and private universities.
Within the framework of the student activities programme approved by the Student Activities Department at the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, four sports delegations from the Islamic University took part in the Quadripartite University Sports Tournament, hosted by Ashur University and Gilgamesh University in Baghdad from 30 November 2025 to 2026. The tournament witnessed the participation of more than 50 public and private universities.
The competitions included several sporting events such as
table tennis, badminton for both male and female students, bodybuilding for male students, and swimming.
Bodybuilding Results (Male Students):
Second place overall among public and private universities (66 kg category)
Sixth place: Reda Ali Aziz (120 kg category)
Seventh place: Hassan Falah Abdul-Hai (83 kg category)
Tenth place: Mustafa Sajjad Shahid (120 kg category)
Swimming Results (Male Students):
Fourth place: Abbas Ghanem – 100m breaststroke
Fourth place: Abbas Ghanem – 50m breaststroke
Eighth place: Abbas Abdul-Muslim – 50m backstroke
Students of the Islamic University also competed in table tennis and badminton, achieving commendable results that reflected a high level of preparation, commitment, and competitive spirit.
At the conclusion of the tournament, the Islamic University expressed its deep gratitude and appreciation to the University President for his continuous support and encouragement of both internal and external student activities, which play an important role in developing sporting talents and enhancing the University’s presence in national university forums.
