Under the patronage of the respected Dean of the College of Education, Assistant Professor Nazim Rahim Al-Salami, and under the supervision of the respected Head of the English Language Department, Lecturer Dr. Najeh Al-Ramahi, the English Language Department held a scientific symposium entitled “The Butterfly Effect on Science and Literature”, presented by Assistant Professor Abbas Jaafar Matar.
Under the patronage of the respected Dean of the College of Education, Assistant Professor Nazim Rahim Al-Salami, and under the supervision of the respected Head of the English Language Department, Lecturer Dr. Najeh Al-Ramahi, the English Language Department held a scientific symposium entitled “The Butterfly Effect on Science and Literature”, presented by Assistant Professor Abbas Jaafar Matar.
The symposium addressed the concept of the “butterfly effect” as one of the most important theories linking science, philosophy and literature, by explaining the impact of small details in bringing about major changes, and how this concept is reflected in international literature and modern scientific theories.
The lecturer also highlighted the presence of this idea in literary texts and its role in explaining narrative transformations, in addition to its applications in the natural sciences and models of chaos.
The symposium witnessed interaction from the department’s students, as it concluded with a set of questions and interventions that contributed to enriching the discussion and expanding understanding about the concept and its dimensions.
