Islamic University, Najaf
Under the patronage of the President of the Islamic University, Professor Dr Ammar Abdul Ameer Al-Salami, the Centre for Continuing Education, in cooperation with the College of Medical Technologies and the Women’s Empowerment Division, organised an interactive symposium featuring Colonel Khaled Chafat Matar Al-Ziyadi, Director of the Community Police Department in Najaf Al-Ashraf, accompanied by department staff member Lecturer Zainab Al-Waili, Head of the Women’s Division. The event formed part of a training programme titled “Principles of Civil Defence for University Women.”
The symposium took place in Hall No. 11 of the College of Medical Technologies, in the presence of Assistant Professor Dr Abdul Majeed Al-Saadi, Dean of the College, and Assistant Professor Dr Rahman Abdul-Sahib Zabiba, Assistant Dean, along with several department heads, female faculty members, and students.
The lecture covered key civil defence skills essential for women, with an emphasis on preventive measures and behavioural practices that support greater family and community awareness. The session also included discussions and questions from participants regarding how to apply these skills in real-life situations.
Organisers noted that such activities align with the university’s commitment to strengthening cooperation with community institutions and enhancing the capabilities of its female students.
At the conclusion of the symposium, the Dean and Assistant Dean presented commemorative shields and certificates of appreciation to the speakers and staff of the Community Police Department in recognition of their valuable contribution.
