Islamic University, Najaf
Under the patronage of the President of the Islamic University of Najaf, Professor Dr. Ammar Abdul Amir Al-Salami, the College of Medical Technology, in cooperation with the Commander of the Faithful (peace be upon him) Specialized Hospital and the Women’s Affairs Division, organized an awareness campaign entitled “Together we plant hope and protect life with early detection”, on the occasion of the Pink October month to raise awareness of breast cancer.

This campaign stems from the Islamic University’s social responsibility to promote health awareness, spread the culture of early detection of breast cancer, and emphasize that prevention and knowledge are the first line of defense against this disease.

Assistant Dean of the College of Medical Technology, Dr. Rahman Sahib Zabiba, said:

“This initiative comes in line with national and global efforts aimed at empowering women to take care of their health and promote preventive behaviors through self-examination and periodic examination, which contributes to early detection, raising recovery rates, and achieving a university environment aware of health and social responsibility.”

The campaign activities included an awareness lecture in the Grand Conference Hall given by Dr. Umm Al-Banin Naseer from the Commander of the Faithful Hospital (peace be upon him), during which she discussed the importance of early detection and prevention methods. She also urged female students and women in general to undergo periodic examinations and spread the culture of health awareness within the university.

The campaign also included conducting free clinical and ultrasound examinations for female students and members, under the supervision of an elite group of specialized medical personnel, in addition to distributing awareness brochures to introduce the importance of early detection and methods of preventing breast cancer.

A number of doctors and specialists participated in the campaign, including:
Dr. Tabarak Hamed, Dr. Nisreen Dahi, Dr. Ali Maytham, pharmacist Muhammad Hassan Al-Alawi, and engineer Muhammad Taqi.

This initiative embodies the Islamic University’s commitment to serving the community through health awareness programs, empowering women, and promoting a culture of prevention and public health.
