Islamic University, Najaf
As part of the security awareness and education programs, the Islamic University in Najaf Al-Ashraf organized a workshop entitled “Electronic Blackmail and Prevention Methods”, in cooperation with the Directorate of Intelligence and Counter-Terrorism of Najaf Al-Ashraf, and in the presence of a number of students from the College of Pharmacy and a number of teaching staff.
The workshop discussed the definition of electronic blackmail, its most prominent modern methods, ways to prevent it, and the legal measures taken against its perpetrators. The lecturers also reviewed real-life examples of extortion cases handled by security agencies, emphasizing the importance of digital awareness in protecting users’ privacy on social media.
The workshop witnessed remarkable interaction from the students, who asked many questions and interventions, in an atmosphere of constructive discussion about the best ways to deal with this phenomenon and limit its spread.
In conclusion, representatives from the Intelligence Directorate stressed the importance of continuing cooperation with educational institutions in promoting community security and fostering a culture of safe technology use.
