The Islamic University of Najaf, led by Prof. Ammar Abdul Amir Al-Salami, was presented with an honorary shield by the Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research in recognition of its role in hosting Erasmus+ programme workshops in collaboration with the European Union delegation.

The award was given during the Erasmus National Day events held from 8 to 9 September 2025 at the University of Baghdad, organized by the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research in partnership with the European Union delegation, with broad participation from Iraqi universities.
In his speech, Minister Dr. Naim Al-Aboudi highlighted the programme’s significance in strengthening international partnerships and enhancing the academic and research capabilities of professors and students. He also announced the creation of specialized university units to oversee the programme across all Iraqi universities.
The Islamic University’s participation and receipt of the honorary shield mark an important milestone, demonstrating its commitment to international academic collaboration and its growing influence in the national and global academic community.
