Islamic University, Najaf
A specialised committee from the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research conducted an inspection visit to the Islamic University to review the extent of the application of biological, chemical and radiological safety and security standards within the university’s laboratories.
The committee was welcomed by Prof. Dr. Ammar Abdul Amir Al-Salami, president of the Islamic University, who stressed the university’s keenness to provide a safe educational and laboratory environment that meets the highest quality and safety standards.
The inspection tour included visiting the laboratories of the College of Medical Technology, the College of Pharmacy, and the College of Dentistry, in addition to laboratories that deal with chemicals and dual-use materials. The committee conducted a comprehensive field inspection and filled out evaluation forms for each laboratory.
The ministerial committee expressed its satisfaction with the readiness of the laboratories and their compliance with safety standards, praising the emergency plans and mechanisms for dealing with hazardous and biological materials, as well as the radiation protection plan, which it reviewed during the visit.
