This morning, the Great Hall of the Faculty of Education at Kufa University witnessed the launch of the scientific conference entitled ‘Peacebuilding Strategies in the Face of Extremism and Terrorism’, organised by three Iraqi universities: Kufa University, the Islamic University, and Imam Al-Kadhim College (peace be upon him) in Najaf, under the slogan: ‘Countering extremism and building peace is everyone’s responsibility’.
The opening of the conference was attended by a large number of official and academic figures, led by the presidents of the participating universities, a number of scholars and clerics from various sects and denominations, as well as representatives of educational and research institutions, postgraduate students and researchers.
The conference aims to discuss scientific and practical ways to confront the phenomenon of extremism and terrorism and promote a culture of peace and peaceful co-existence through the discussion of research papers and specialised studies presented by academics and researchers from various Iraqi universities.
The activities of the conference will continue throughout the day, including scientific dialogue sessions and research interventions, while stressing the role of academic institutions in consolidating community awareness and building a stable and secure environment.
