Islamic University, Najaf
The Islamic University in Najaf Al-Ashraf, in collaboration with the Department of Islamic Studies at Beit Al-Hikma (House of Wisdom), recently hosted an intellectual seminar titled “The Role of Religious and Scientific Institutions in Preserving National Unity.” The event, attended by University President Professor Dr. Ammar Abdul-Amir Al-Salami, college deans, faculty, and students, explored critical strategies for societal cohesion.
Professor Dr. Hasnain Jaber Al-Helo, Director of the Studies Centre at Kufa University, delivered a lecture emphasising the vital integration of religious and scientific institutions in fostering national unity and addressing contemporary societal challenges. He stressed the necessity of intensified efforts to cultivate a culture of dialogue and tolerance.
The seminar sparked significant engagement from the audience, with participants actively contributing questions and perspectives on practical methods to strengthen national unity and identity through academic and religious institutions.
This seminar is part of an ongoing series of intellectual and scientific initiatives organized by the Islamic University in partnership with Beit Al-Hikma. These initiatives aim to solidify the principles of peaceful coexistence and raise awareness about the crucial role of national unity in building a stable and harmonious society. Furthermore, the event aligns with the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goal 16 (Peace, Justice, and Strong Institutions) by promoting community dialogue and reinforcing concepts of social justice and peaceful coexistence.
