Islamic University, Najaf _ Kufa University recently hosted the University Poetry Festival, held under the patronage of Dr. Naim Al-Aboudi, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, and supervised by the Scientific Supervision and Evaluation Agency’s Student Activities Department. The event was attended by prominent figures, including Professor Ammar Al-Salami, President of the Islamic University, and Professor Alaa Naji Al-Mawla, President of Kufa University, along with several university presidents, professors, and students.
The festival featured the participation of 50 public and private universities, with 100 male and female students competing in the poetry competition. Specialized committees rigorously evaluated the poems, and the results led to the Islamic University securing the Poetic Creativity Shield. This achievement was made possible by the outstanding performances of students Abdulhadi Faleh Mahdi and Saif Al-Islam Ali Saud, whose poems impressed the jury.
In response to this achievement, Mahdi Abu Gillal, Director of Cinema and Theatre at the Islamic University, noted that the award marks a significant milestone in the university’s efforts to support the literary and cultural movement. It also contributes to enhancing academic awareness and encouraging students to explore their creative potential in poetry.
