Islamic University Tackles Violent Extremism in Workshop

Islamic University, Najaf— The Follow-up Department at the Islamic University in Najaf recently conducted a workshop titled “Methods and Techniques for Combating Violent Extremism Leading to Terrorism.” This event was held under the patronage of Dr. Karrar Mahbouba, the Second Deputy Governor, and was supervised by the National Security Service of the Najaf Security Directorate. Attendees included Assistant Professor Dr. Hassan Taher Melhem, the university’s assistant president; Professor Dr. Ali Al-Azari, dean of the College of Engineering Technologies; as well as numerous faculty members and students.
During the workshop, speakers addressed critical issues surrounding the dangers of extremist and deviant ideologies, discussed preventive measures and provided examples of individuals affected by such stereotyping and ideology. These case studies served as valuable lessons for attendees.
This initiative reflects the commitment of the Islamic University, led by President Prof. Dr. Ammar Abdul Amir Al-Salami, to safeguard students’ minds from external influences and harmful ideas.
