Islamic University Holds Second Council Meeting of the Year

Islamic University, Najaf— The Presidency of the Islamic University in Najaf convened its second council meeting for the academic year 2024-2025, attended by the university’s founder, His Eminence Sayyid Sadruddin Al-Qabanji. The meeting was opened by Prof. Dr. Ammar Al-Salami, President of the Islamic University, who extended a warm welcome to His Eminence and all council members. He also expressed heartfelt congratulations on His Eminence’s safety following a recent criminal attack targeting his home and family, offering prayers for their continued protection.
In his address, His Eminence thanked the council and university affiliates for their contributions to the institution’s successes, particularly highlighting the establishment of seven new departments and the university’s inclusion in the Arab QS ranking as the top private university in Iraq alongside public institutions. He reiterated the importance of adhering to Islamic values, emphasizing prayer and hijab as integral to the university’s identity.
Following His Eminence’s remarks, Prof. Al-Salami led discussions on several agenda items, including the approval of 70 new faculty appointments, various promotions, and scientific titles. The council also addressed student matters, including postponements and preparations for welcoming first-year students, ensuring a smooth registration process, and enhancing facilities by renewing and expanding classrooms and laboratories to accommodate the influx of new students.
