Islamic University, Najaf – As part of its continuing medical education (CME) initiative, the Faculty of Dentistry at the Islamic University in Najaf Al-Ashraf conducted an educational course on March 23-24, 2024, titled “Basic Biomechanics in Clear Aligners and Diagnosis of Periodontal Disease.” The course featured assistant instructors Zia Mohammed Jawad and Al-Mustafa Wissam Wahab, and was sponsored by Prof. Ammar Al-Salami, the University President, with direct oversight from Prof. Abbas Al-Aboudi, Dean of the Faculty of Dentistry.
The first lecture covered several key topics, including:
1. Definition of periodontal disease
2. Modern classification of periapical periodontitis
3. Diagnosis of the disease
4. Taking a medical history from affected patients
5. Utilizing specialised examination tools for diagnosis
The second lecture focused on:
1. Treatment methods for malocclusion cases using transparent orthodontics
2. Reasons for treatment failures with removable transparent braces
3. Scientific studies related to transparent movable braces
