Law Students Visit Thalassemia Centre, Provide Gifts and Medical Treatments

Islamic University, Najaf – On Thursday, April 18, 2024, the Islamic University of Najaf al-Ashraf’s Faculty of Law and the Community Service Division hosted a field trip to the Centre for Children Affected with Hereditary Blood Disease (Thalassemia) at Al-Zahra (PBUH) Teaching Hospital. A group of students attended the visit, escorted by Dr. Ali Khayoun, the Assistant Dean, and the head of the university’s community service division. Doctors from the centre greeted the delegation and, under the direction of the Director of the Centre for Genetic Haematology Department, explained the causes of the disease in children and how testing before marriage can prevent infection.
In addition to scientific integration between the institutions of the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research and other sectors, which is one of the pillars emphasised by the presidency of the Islamic University, the visit aims to integrate students into society, enhance humanitarian and social aspects, provide support and positive energy to patients, and instill hope and optimism in their souls,” according to Dr. Khayoun, Assistant Dean of the Faculty of Law.
