The University Festival of Fine Arts for Iraqi university students opened at Al-Furat Al-Awsat Technical University, co-hosted by the Islamic University and several public and private universities, under the patronage of His Excellency the Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Dr. Naeem Al-Aboudi.
The festival represents an important activity within the curriculum of the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research’s Scientific Supervision and Evaluation Service, Student Activities Department, for the academic year 2023-2024 in the first semester, with participation from 45 governmental and private universities and colleges.
The ceremony was directly managed and supervised by the President of Al-Furat Al-Awsat University, Professor Dr. Muzaffar Al-Zuhairi, and in the presence of the President of Jaber ibn Hayyan Medical University, Professor Dr. Muhammad Baqir Fakhr Al-Din, the President of the Islamic University, Dr. Ammar Al-Salami, a number of deans of colleges and institutes, and the delegation, heads of delegations, and students from participating universities.
More than a thousand artistic paintings were displayed in addition to handicrafts presented by male and female students at the festival, which included all types of drawings created by students from the participating universities, including oil and watercolor paintings, pencil drawings, and other handicrafts.
The president of the Islamic University was present at the opening ceremony, along with the president of Al-Furat Al-Awsat Technical University and various university presidents. He also distributed shields to the participating universities and toured the pavilions of the festival, including the pavilion of the Islamic University. Dr. Al-Salami expressed gratitude to the Islamic University delegation for their participation in this festival.
