The Islamic University of Najaf once again topped private universities and colleges in the Webometrics classification, coming in first, ranked 33 among public and private universities among 124 Iraqi public and private universities, and ranked 4,414 globally among 12,000 international universities, up 13 places from the previous year.
This progress has been achieved due to the plan developed by the university presidency, and its daily monitoring by the university website administration. To enhance the university’s ranking in the rankings, it was crucial to provide both free and direct access to magazines on its site. In addition to that, the follow-up of the accounts of the teachers and their lectures on the site, the dissemination of scientific research culture and the use of scientific research tools, as well as the publication of scientific reports and video lectures of interest to the students and other distinguished scientific events, made the site rise 13 ranks among public universities and universities in the Kurdistan region.
The Webometrics assessment was established in 2004 in Spain by the Higher Council for Scientific Research as an initiative of the Cybermetrics Lab and is considered to be the largest Spanish public research organization. It aims to cover all higher education institutions (HEIs) regardless of country or major. Over 30,000 institutions of higher education worldwide are ranked by the organization. Furthermore, it displays purposeful and objective scientific outputs that can be relied upon to determine the performance of the best university worldwide on more than one level. (HTH)
