On the occasion of God’s greatest Eid “Eid al-Ghadīr”, and under the auspices of the founder of the Islamic University, His Eminence Sayyid Sadr al-Din al-Qabbanji, and with the direct support of the university’s president, Professor Dr. Ammar al-Salami, about 200 students from the Islamic University of Najaf and its two branches performed in Babylon and Diwaniyah, on Tuesday, the written test on the biography and life of the Commander of the Faithful, Ali bin Abi Talib (PBUH), under the name “holds the Grand al-Ghadīr competition”. Students will compete to win the first prize of 300 thousand Iraqi dinars, the second prize of 200 thousand dinars, and the third prize of 8 awards of 100 thousand dinars each, as well as a gift for every participant and other facilities for all winners bearing the name Ali and its synonyms (peace be upon him).
The competition is the first of its type at institutions in Iraq and the Islamic world. According to Mr. Abdul Karim Al-Haidari, a representative of the Husseini Youth Authority, it was organized in conjunction with the Holy Quran Division.
According to Al-Haidari, “the university presidency will hold a special ceremony on this occasion to distribute prizes to the winners, in the presence of the winning contestants’ families as well as those who bear the name of Commander of the Faithful, Ali bin Abi Talib (PBUH).” (HTH)
