The Iraqi national team won several gold medals at the championships held in Tunisia with the help of the teaching assistant in the Department of Physical Education and Sports Sciences at the Islamic University in Najaf and the coach of the Iraqi national team, Mr. Ammar Mohi Khalil. The victory qualifies Iraq for the upcoming Paralympic World Championships in Paris, as well as for the upcoming Asian Championships and other world championships.
In a statement to the university media, Mr. Khalil said “he supervised the training of the national team members during the Paralympic Games that took place from February 2–9 in Tunisia.” “In addition to winning two gold medals in weightlifting and javelin throwing, Hassan Hussein also won fourth place in the same championship in which 17 countries competed.” (HTH)
