In order to achieve social solidarity, Dr. Ammar Al-Salami, the president of the Islamic University of Najaf, directed the Community Service Division to offer compassion and help to orphans and children. In three days, the university’s Community Service Division accompanied the beneficiaries of the children to the State House for Orphans and to the stores where shoes, winter clothes, and underwear were available, so that all children were provided with everything they needed to survive on a daily basis and that suited their age and taste.
An official in the Islamic University’s Community Division said, “We are committed to social solidarity and community participation.” As part of its mission to bring joy to the hearts of orphans, the elderly, the deaf and dumb, affiliated with the Ministry of Labor and Social, it has visited many orphanages, the elderly, and the deaf and dumb.”
Abdul-Karim Al-Haidari stated that “the university will organise successive trips for children and others for the deaf and dumb segment to the university and to places they choose themselves and according to their tastes,” and that the university and some of its professors and employees sponsored some orphans, and that the division provided drinking water and dry food at the state house.”
It is noteworthy that the Islamic University emphasises community service as one of its fruits. Since its establishment 18 years ago, it has developed multiple programmes based on the development of different aspects of society through various initiatives and activities that contribute to serving several sectors, namely health, poverty alleviation, and environmental protection. Assisting orphans and the poor, caring for the talented, and participating in seminars and conferences that protect families and society from pests are some of the ways we can protect families and society.
