In celebration of the birth of Zahra (pbuh)… IU honors more than 100 orphans
The Husseini Youth Authority at the Islamic University organised a celebration for (100) orphans enrolled with the Orphan Charity Foundation on the fragrant and blessed anniversary of the birth of Fatima al-Zahra (peace be upon her), on the twentieth of Jumada al-Thani, on January 24, 2022, on a Monday morning.
Dr. Zaid Al-Akaishi, Director of the Public Relations Department at the university, stated that various items in the programme won the approval of the orphans. Dr. Al-Akaishi added that the university students welcomed the orphans with applause and accompanied them on a tour of the faculties, academic departments, laboratories, and playgrounds. In addition to the briefings on study patterns in each department, professors and department heads explained the stages of university studies to the orphans. Later, the orphans enjoyed playing a variety of games in the Department of Physical Education with the university’s President, Dr. Ammar Al-Salami, the lecturers of the department, and students.
As part of the program, Al-Akeshi noted: “Prayers were performed in the university’s Grand Mosque under the leadership of Sayyed Sadr Al-Din Al-Qabbanji.”
A traditional lunch was served at Al-Qasab hostel following the prayers.
The Presidency of the Islamic University presented Turkish winter clothes to orphans of both genders after lunch. Orphans showed joy, happiness, hope, and a desire to study at a university and serve the community on their faces.
Students, in turn, presented in-kind gifts to orphans in honor of them.
