The Islamic University of Najaf’s Continuing Education Center held a workshop on Wednesday, January 5, 2022, titled “Universities and their Role in Society,” in the presence of the President of the Islamic University, Dr. Ammar Al-Salami. The workshop was attended by deans of faculties, department heads, and other university personnel.
Dr. Al-Salami encouraged everyone in the workshop that was held in the lecture hall of the Faculty of Dentistry and Pharmacy to pay attention to student volunteer activities outside the university to serve the many sections of society, each in its own region, as a contribution to helping the needy and providing a helping hand and assistance of all kinds by activating the role of (community service unit), cooperating with public and private institutions, going to the needy where they reside, and providing all possible means to help.
Additionally, Dr. Al-Salami advised the audience that students should be encouraged to submit voluntary and self-initiative projects to serve segments of society that actually need assistance. For the benefit of the beneficiary groups, this activity should be kept away from media attention.
Deans of faculties and heads of departments presented their proposals and constructive ideas to activate the role of university students through the Community Service Unit and community service in ways such as building a role for the eligible, helping them, treating patients, providing them with legal advice, and other voluntary activities.
