A meeting of the Sectoral Committee of the Deans of Islamic Sciences Faculties in Iraq was held at Al-Kafeel University in Najaf on Sunday, June 27, 2021. During the meeting, the committees of experts for preparing and updating the curricula discussed their reports. In this context, it was decided to reconsider some committees that failed in their work, and it was also decided to add candidates from private colleges and universities to these committees instead of the members who failed in their work.
The attendees unanimously approved the proposal submitted by Prof. Dr. Hadi Al-Tamimi, Dean of the College of Islamic Sciences at the Islamic University of Najaf, personally requesting the Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research to activate Articles 8 and 9 of the Private Education Law No. 25 of 2016 regarding the opening of postgraduate studies in private colleges and universities after the material and human conditions are met. This step effectively contributes to reducing the financial bleeding of hard currency that goes out of Iraq as a result of our youth searching for opportunities for higher studies outside Iraq as well as the social and moral impact that our youth are affected by customs and traditions that are alien to our Islamic societies as a result of their mixing with that environment and those societies.
